FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Plouf!
Everything people ask before the first game.
Yes. Quick game, presets, rules editor, tournament, players, stats and sharing are free, with no ads and no account. A Pro version for event organisers will come later; nothing that's free today will become paid.
No. Plouf! works fully offline: players, games, tournaments and rules stay on your iPhone. Handy at the bottom of the garden or in a basement with no signal.
Duplicate a preset or start from scratch in the editor: number of cups (1 to 21), balls per turn, balls back, bounce, two balls in the same cup, free or automatic reracks, elbows, rebuttal, overtime, island, “on fire”, timeouts and time limit. The preset is kept for future parties.
Depending on your rules, a team gets one or more free reracks, or automatic reracks at set thresholds (6 and 3 cups in Competition). Plouf! offers the formations available for the cups left: triangle, diamond, line, square, zipper, centered.
Yes: Undo and Redo are unlimited, and the timestamped log keeps every shot. Everything is recomputed from the log, so a correction puts the game back in exactly the right state.
From 3 to 64 teams in single elimination, on 1 to 8 tables. The draw can be random or balanced on Elo ratings; byes, forfeits and the table queue are handled automatically.
Each player has an Elo rating that moves after every game, taking opponents' level into account. Stats (accuracy, best streak, bounces, favourite partner, nemesis) are recomputed from the game logs.
No. Plouf! is a scoreboard for a game of skill, playable with water. The app never counts drinks, no challenge or achievement is tied to drinking, and a prevention message shows on first launch.
Yes, Plouf! is available in French and English, silly team names included.
